The Old Master Evening sale at Sotheby's on December 5 2018 in London totalled 30.2 million GBP with an exceptional sell-through rate of 86% - the highest ever achieved by the auction house in this category with a rare oil sketch by Rembrandt van Rijn sold for 9.48 million.

Christie's 4 December sale of Fine printed books and manuscripts realized a total of 5,425,625 USD achieving 75% by lot and 81% by value with Albert Einstein's letter on God sold for 2,892,500 USD,a new world auction record for a letter by the celebrated scientist achieved after a four-minute bidding battle between two clients on the phones.
