Bauhaus Photography
01 September 2003

The Auckland Art Gallery in New Zealand runs a exhibition of photographic works by artists from the famous German Bauhaus school until September 14th 2003.

For a few charmed years between the two World Wars the Bauhaus, founded by architect Walter Gropius, became Germany's leading avant garde art school and was a testing ground for the combined efforts of artists, artisans and industrial designers. This show presents an extensive range of brilliant photographic work documenting all of the teaching activities at the Bauhaus.

The selection ranges from spontaneously amateur to compositionally professional creations, from the everyday snapshot to the carefully devised advertising image.
