BRIGHT FUTURE FOR CHINESE CONTEMPORARY  PAINTING
01 November 1997

Many Chinese contemporary painters have gained international stature in the space of a few years while the economic development in China has done a lot for the emergence of art there. Many private galleries are due to open throughout the country this year notably in Shanghai where several foreign companies have invested in Chinese contemporary paintings.

Painters like Pu Jie, Ji Wen Yu, Tang Guo, Jin Weihong and Wang Ming Shi have attracted many collectors world-wide. Foreign companies established in China as well as buyers from Hong Kong and south-east Asia have invested in these artists.
