Raya-Sorkine (de Bouvier de Cachard), Alain called Raya-Sorkine

Nationality : French
Raya-Sorkine studied at the School of Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1951 and 1954. He then frequented the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and traveled in many European countries before staying in Jerusalem during a certain time. He worked in the Provence region from 1973 to 1980 before settling in Paris. Working as an follower of Chagall this artist has been rather repetitive in his works depicting popular Jewish scenes.

Nationality : Italian
This Trans-avant-garde painter of nudes, landscapes and architectural scenes notably exhibited his works in 1976 at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Working also as a printmaker, Marco del Re settled in France in 1989.
Redenti, Cesare or Francesco
Birth - Death : 1820-1876
Nationality : Italian
Born in Correggio, Redenti became one of the greatest Italian caricaturists of the 19th Century. He was likewise of Jewish extraction.
Redko, Clement (Kliment)
Birth - Death : 1897-1956
Nationality : Ukrainian
Redko studied painting in Petrograd between 1914 and 1919. He pursued his studies in Kiev, where he started to work with several Jewish avant-garde painters. He then settled in Moscow and exhibited his works there before working from 1927 to 1935 in Paris, where he showed his paintings at the Salons des Independants, d'Automne and of the Tuileries. During the 1920s, Redko showed an interest in technology and symbolised industrial civilisation in his works. Back in Moscow in 1935, he gave up his abstract researches, notably in the development of synthetic light, and painted landscapes in a figurative manner.

Reinhardt, Ad

Reinhardt first studied with Meyer Schapiro in 1935 at the Columbia College in New York before frequenting the National Academy of Design and the American Artists' School. Influenced by Mondrian, he exhibited his works from 1939 and became a major abstract painter in his country. Much inspired by Buddhist art he had an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in New York in 1966. He was considered as one of the pioneers of Minimal art.
