Barer, Rivka
Birth - Death : 1917-
Nationality : Israeli
Barer studied art in France and then in 1941 at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv and under Yohanan Simon and Marcel Janco. She then taught painting at the Art Teachers Seminary in Tel Aviv. Working under the influence of Cezanne, she exhibited landscapes several times in Israel.
Bargal, Chaim
Birth - Death : 1922-
Nationality : Polish then Israeli
During World War Two Bargal lived in the Polish ghetto of Koritz before he managed to join a resistance unit. He immigrated in 1946 to Palestine and studied at the Bezalel Academy before working as a painter at the Shaar Hagolan Kibbutz.
Barmor, Benjamin Bartmeser
Birth - Death : 1934-
Nationality : Polish then Israeli
Painter. Barmor came to Israel in 1949 and studied at the Bezazel Academy in Jerusalem before frequenting the School of Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1959 and 1961. He took part in several group shows in Israel as well as at the Biennale de Paris in 1959.

Painter. Baruch immigrated to Israel in 1948 and studied at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem. He was awarded the Herman Struck Prize in 1981.

The son of an orthodox rabbi Baskin grew up in Brooklyn. He frequented the Educational Alliance Art School in New York and later had several one-man exhibitions of his evocative figurative sculptures and graphics, notably at the Museum of Modern Art in 1962 in New York. This artist settled in England.
Bat-Yosef, Myriam

Nationality : German then Israeli
Bat-Yosef immigrated to Palestine with her family in 1934. She studied painting at the Tel Aviv Art Institute, in Paris and in Florence during the 1950s and 1960s and then worked in Jerusalem until 1980. She then settled in Paris and took part in many exhibitions in France and abroad, notably in Israel. She first produced figurative paintings and then moved towards abstraction during the late 1950s. She notably took part in an exhibition titled “From Bonnard to Baselitz” in 1992 in Paris.
Bau, Joseph
Birth - Death : 20th Century
Nationality : Polish then Israeli
Painter. The story of Bau who met and married his wife in the Nazi concentration camp of Plaszow has become familiar to many due to the book by Keneally and the film by Steven Spielberg titled “The Schindler's list” of the Shoah. He immigrated to Israel in 1950. Bau's work recalls the harsh experiences he suffered during the war.

Bauernfeind, Gustav
Birth - Death : 1848-1904
Nationality : Austrian
Bauernfeind was the son of a chemist who had become a Christian convert. He first studied architecture in Stuttgart around 1860 and then decided to embark on an artistic career after visiting Switzerland and Italy. He traveled extensively in the Middle East, finally settling in 1896 in Jerusalem, where he lived until his death. Bauernfeind became notorious with a painting showing the Wailing Wall as well as works depicting the Old City there.
