Fajans, Maksymilian

Nationality : Polish
Painter, print-maker and photographer. Fajans studied painting in Warsaw and then in Paris under Ary Scheffer. He became a famous lithographer and set up a printmaking studio in Warsaw. Fajans then painted portraits, notably of several wealthy Jews, landscapes and scenes. Fajans also worked as a photographer.
Falk, Robert Rafailovich

Nationality : Russian
Falk studied painting with Korovine in Moscow and first worked under the influence of Cezanne and French Impressionist painters. He befriended Larionov, Natalia Gontcharova and Malevich in the “Knave of Diamonds” group but did not turn to abstract painting. After the Bolshevik Revolution he taught painting in Moscow and also in Vitebsk in 1921. Working later as an expressionist artist, he exhibited his works in the Soviet Union and also in Berlin in 1922 and Paris in 1930 and 1931. He produced stage and costume designs for several plays in Moscow, where he had a solo exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery and met Altman and Soutine during a trip to Paris in 1928, the year he showed his works at the Salon d'Automne and at the Venice Biennale. After the Second World War, Falk was rather ostracized by Soviet authorities for keeping aloof of Social Realism.

Farba studied painting in Poland and at the Grande Chaumiere in Paris before World War Two. He settled in the French capital in 1964 and exhibited symbolic works painted in an Expressionist style in Rome, New York and Tel Aviv.

. Painter. This artist was among the very last decorators of Polish synagogues before the Second World War. He notably painted the walls of the synagogues in Rymanow, Galicia, around 1930.
Feder, Eudice

Eudice Feder studied at the Cleveland School of Art and in Chicago with Moholy-Nagy and worked as a painter. Specialising also in computer graphics, she explored themes of the Exodus and Jewish symbols. She exhibited her works in Europe, the Far East and the U.S.

Feingersh studied at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem between 1959 until 1963 before staying in Paris during several years. He then went to Brussels and Madrid before returning to Israel in 1968. He had several solo exhibitions in Israel and showed his figurative symbolic paintings in many group exhibitions in this country and abroad. He notably created stage designs for the Kol Demama Company and was awarded the Dizengoff Prize in 1976 His works can be found in the Tel Aviv Museum, the Israel Museum, The Jerusalem Museum and the Haifa Museum of Modern Art.

Fenichel studied art in Cracow and spent the period of World War Two in a Nazi concentration camp. After surviving the Holocaust he worked as theatre decorator in Kiev and immigrated to Israel in 1948. He taught drawing there and worked as an illustrator. Fenichel, who later moved to the U.S, exhibited his works in Poland and in Israel.

Fishman began his career as a freelance photographer in 1980 and worked for the “Jerusalem Post”. He exhibited black and white portraits of Americans living in Israel at the American Cultural Center in Jerusalem in 1987. He notably photographed scenes of Hassidic life and served as a consultant on photographic matters for the Juedisches Museum Franken in Feurth.
